  • Pondering from an airport

I wonder if those people who are
allowed to go in doors that say “Autorized personell only” enjoy it the
    first time they do…

  • Traveling

For some odd reason, work travel and leisure travel decided that this was a great time to unite.

I like traveling, but I also like having time at home. Since mid-October, I’ve been to London twice, Copenhagen once as well as other locations in Norway a couple of times… Next weekend is Vienna, and then I am heading for Oslo for the days before the Nobel awards.

It ought to be a peaceful Christmas break at least.

  • Ponderings on Diana…

Diana’s been dead a good 13 years now. Isn’t it time for the postcard makers and dreadful plate painters to find a new subject?

Are tourists to London still buying Diana’s likeness on a plate?

Or is it just a safe bet in these recession-riddled times?

  • Sleeping in style

I was away with work. My hotel room had one of these over the bed.

I didn’t get to appreciate it- I was out like a light the moment my head hit the pillow.

But it definitely makes its mark as to where to return for a relaxing weekend.

  • Bedding

One thing that seems to mark the difference in altitude between countries is the bedding. Warmer countries seem to go for blankets whereas Switzerland and Austria went for duvets.

  • What not to wear in Avignon

Avignon – the other city of the popes – is famous for its Mistral wind. That makes wearing a short, flowy dress there as bad idea as Marilyn Monroe’s blowing in the wind experience.

Granted, my dress was black, but I still had to hold my skirt down as I danced on the bridge of Avignon.

  • Andorra

Andorra was really nothing more than mountains, banks and petrol stations. We tried being tourists, but apart from official buildings and a playground (with age limits so we couldn’t play) there wasn’t that much to see on a Saturday afternoon.

Getting out of the country proved to be difficult. Not because of the customs people, but because of an impossible fog that led to a temperature drop to five degrees. Getting down a mountainside road in a car in the fog is rather difficult.
