[picappgallerysingle id=”7717006″]The Danish court has released the programme for Queen Margrethe’s 70th birthday celebrations. The programme may be changed.
To my mind, there is a whole lot of exhibits going on. No indication yet whether there will be a massive invasion of royal guests from all over Europe, as there was for her 60th birthday, although the “party for private friends” on the evening of the 16th, could be interpreted that way.
Without further ado – the programme.
Wednesday, March 24 – The Queen will be present at the opening of the exhibition “Queen Margrethe and archaeology” at Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus. The exhibit will focus on her hobby of archae0logy, and excavations she has participated in.
Wednesday, April 7 – The Queen will open the exhibit “Queen Margrethe II – a life’s work” at the Skovgaard Museum in Viborg. The exhibit features art produced by the Queen, from childhood to this day.
Thursday, April 8 – The Regent Couple and the Crown Princely couple will attend the opening of the exhibit “Margrethe II” at the Amalienborg Museum. The exhibit will use pictures and props to focus on central events in the Queen’s life.
Friday, April 9 – The Regent couple and the Crown Princely couple will be attending the opening of the exhibit “Queen of Denmark” at the Frederiksborg Museum. The exhibit focuses on the Queen’s public and private life, and ties it together with events from the Danish history. Rather interesting choice of date, 70 years after the German occupation of Denmark, as the Queen lived her first five years in occupied Denmark.
Tuesday, April 13 – Festive dinner at Christiansborg Palace on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday. Television channel TV2 will provide the entertainment.
Thursday, April 15 – Gala performance at the Royal Theatre.
Friday, April 16 – The Queen’s birthday.
kl. 12.00 – The Queen and the royal family appears on the balcony at Amalienborg.
kl. 12.40 – The Regent Couple drive in an open horse-driven carriage from Amalienborg to Copenhagen City Hall.
kl. 13.00 – Reception and lunch at Copenhagen City Hall.
kl. 20.00 – Dinner at Fredensborg Palace for private friends.
